East Central Florida is home to some of the United States' most amazing and versatile options for anglers to enjoy. Whether one's preference is freshwater, saltwater, or brackish, it can be found here. Taking a Daytona Beach fishing charter is the most effective way to fully experience each of these incredible options.

Several special qualities contribute to this area of Florida being a unique location. A favorite spot among avid anglers, beginning fishermen, tourists and locals, alike, is the amazing Mosquito Lagoon. Its positioning in Volusia Counnty at the northern part of the Indian River is a huge factor in creating its specific appeal.

This body of water is positioned so that it is part of both Canaveral National Seashore and Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge. Being nestled in these two parcels of more than 167,000 combined acres of protected land means that this location is perhaps one of Florida's least developed zones. It is filled with wildlife and fish species.

Coming to this region provides the people with some unique conditions that make it easy for beginners and casual fishermen, yet poses a sporting challenge for the seasoned angler. With the way the tidal flows go, the water moves slow and is both shallow and clear. This makes it very easy to see schools of certain fish so that casting is more accurate.

This location gives the water an ocean like salinity which causes a few species that would normally go out to open sea to spawn, do that in the lagoon instead. It creates a unique ecosystem that allows the rare chance see Red Mangrove, Spartina and five different types of sea grass all flourishing side by side. There are plenty of flounder, tarpon, spotted sea trout, grouper, crappie, large mouth bass and shad here.

The two protected wildlife preserves provides the opportunity to see some truly amazing sights. Living in the lagoon is a population of Atlantic bottlenose dolphins that love to get attention. One can watch stingrays glide along the shallow areas or view large groups of fish a bit further out.
