Today, people still run the race covering 26.2 miles for charity or when challenging themselves physically and mentally. When running long races such as a marathon, you must wear the appropriate clothing to avoid injury and also maintain the body well during and after the race. When it comes clothing, many runners face numerous challenges choosing the best. There are hundreds of designs, styles and fabrics. Additionally, variations in weather may play a significant role in what to wear for the race. While running a lot of heat is generated as the body heats up. Also, mingling with large crowds is expected to increase the heat.

It is advisable to run in a running T-shirt and shorts or capris when the weather is warm. A hotter weather will call for a running vest and light shorts to allow more air circulation. The shorts are of various lengths. Some of the come with inbuilt lycra short ideal for people who have trouble chafing. The general rule of thumb is to try something during training to find out how comfortable it is before the actual marathon.

If you want something cooler when the weather is hotter, try shorts with inbuilt briefs. Whatever your choice of wear is, remember comfort and fit are your goals. Cooler weather demands long-sleeves and a bit of layering. Layering is important to add an extra bit of protection against the cold but also quick removal when you feel hotter. For instance, instead of wearing one thick layer of clothing, wear two thin ones.

Hats can help a runner during a marathon. When its warm, one should not wear a heavy hat as it keeps in too much heat. However, when it is cold, a hat can keep heating from escaping the body. Gloves also come in handy especially when it is windy. An extra scarf around the neck and a windbreaker jacket can also be helpful when cold.

In conclusion, marathon wear should be comfortable and well-fitting. It is important to train in the clothes to test how comfortable and fitting they are before the actual race. In addition, always check the weather forecast to know what to expect during the big day.
