Belachan is famous Asian food taste enhancer; its ability to attract fish to the hook are well known! Part of the power of Belachan is the range of fish feeding stimulation factors in concentration that it pumps out in solution when in contact with water. It is the special fish feeding stimulation factors within Belachan that most turn fish onto your baits when you include it in boilies, paste, ground bait etc! As a basis for any carp or catfish bait Belachan or other fermented prawn, shrimp or fish products are absolutely outstanding among bait additives and ingredients.

The production process of Belachan and related products is natural and simple. The proteins within the shrimps etc are broken down by micro-organisms by fermentation digestion. Natural fermentation is highly significant; representing a hugely important food edge for carp and in terms of human food digestion! The fermentation of food groups such as proteins and carbohydrates fats and oils seriously enhances the taste and digestibility of foods extremely beneficially!

After a period of time the rich pre-digested material is milled and compressed as paste and air-dried naturally, but then re-fermented. Eventually fermented paste is formed into dough blocks for sale. The biological nutritional availability and nutritional stimulation of Belachan makes it among the most successful bait additives for carp, catfish and many other specimen fish too! Belachan and related products can have many names and many forms from paste to slurry and many colours depending upon region and species of prawn etc used.

The high salt content of Belachan makes it extremely palatable and soluble. Salty fishing baits are exceptional due to them being so able to disperse into the water column along with all other soluble components of a bait. Some fermented shrimp or krill products may differ in salt content and some may contain more protein compared to salt! Belachan which contains high levels of protein plus salt are exceptional in fishing baits such as boilies!

The Belachan forms with most protein and lower salt are superior and contain higher levels of true feeding triggers! True feeding triggers include free form amino acids and mineral salts joined in some way to amino acids. Fish are very attracted to salt-enhanced amino acids so using Belachan in boilies, pastes, stick mixes and more really enhances bait performance! Belachan contains salt-enhanced amino acids which also enhance many natural flavours and additional flavours and enhancers used in carp and other baits!

Belachan is what I regard an essential type of additive for use in all baits you make! Even inferior forms of less salty Belachan type products significantly suck water inside baits thus improving their performance! The effect of sucking water into baits is a vital effect in bait success! I always exploit the sucking in of water into baits effect extremely powerfully within my own baits.

At 60 to 70 percent digestible and soluble protein Belachan is an exceptional bait additive proven for decades having been a secret ingredient known only by a few! Try making liquid food blends based on Belachan and be rewarded for being innovative! Try soaking pellets and boilies in Belachan made into liquid simply by adding warmed Minamino or Bloodworm for instance.
